I had this big 'ol "Hawaii-Ween" art show here in Hawaii at the Wyland Gallery in Kona, (I know, strange place for a "low-brow Tiki Art Show") and there was this special request for a commission for a painting from some art patron big-wig folks, the art agent at the gallery went on line to show me the "Tiki Room" these tiki tribe folks were making...and how proud they were of the tiki they had special made for it...that it was made by one of the best tiki carvers in America... I didn't even look at the screen and I said "Oh, you mean Crazy Al?" - and she said ... "Yes! How'd you know that?" and I said, "He is the best. Where do you think I get all my inspiration for my tiki designs from?"

So... I forgot to say that years ago, just as I was getting into painting tiki art, I was on Tiki Central looking at a Bamboo Ben masterpiece of a "Tiki Room" and it had a Crazy Al tiki in it. And some Mark Ryden prints on the wall. I had a secret hope that one day I maybe my tiki art could hang in such an amazing tiki room, along side a Crazy Al tiki. Wow, that might happen now.... so I better not blow this commission!

Unfortunately Tiki Farm’s manufacturer in Mexico, that sent me the unglazed bisque, used a different material then I’m familiar working with.
These unique Barrels only available from me will have crazing/cackle glaze on the inside of the piece.
This may or may not be food safe and may discolor with use.
Also, a few bisque did not have the detail I was hoping for, but just a few.
Only 30! Crazy Barrels will be offered and only by myself.
These 30 are lager then the Production Run of 500 available at Don the Beachcomber Huntington Beach CA
Mine are 5 1/4 inches high holding 24 ounces!!

Hot Damn! That Smuggler's Cove mug is a BEAUTY! Love that sculpt!
Sadly, I don't see myself sailing to the cove for another year at least  Hope they still have one left somewhere down in the bilge

Just popping in to make sue everyone coming to the Cove on the 9th sees this:
There will be only 48 of these limited edition mugs EVER. Al is bringing 32 of them to Smuggler's Cove on the 9th, and the rest will be sold via eBay. Here's an important update: Al has decided that the 32 at Smuggler's Cove will be sold via silent auction. Now there's no need to sleep on the sidewalk or rush to be first in line!
