So I've been working on my schoolwork all morning, jumping any time I hear a big diesel come down my street. The recycling man and Fedex guy gave me false positives to the one diesel I wanted to see. The trusty P-600 UPS truck. But finally as I was taking the Netflix movies out to the postman, she arrived.
And I was like a kid on Xmas morning. I took to the box like I would a plate lunch after a triple-tank dive run off the coast of Maui. First off, let me say that it was my first (and certainly not my last) from Munktiki. The only thing I was worried about was the packing, having worked for UPS and having seen first hand what can happen in the operation. But I wasn't disappointed. They pack stuff like I would. Double boxed, heavily padded, one of the best pack jobs, if not the best, that I've seen from a retailer.
So after I unwrap all the goodies, I find that the Wannabe Bastard (in black), is #99 out of 100. I almost didn't order this, but I thought, "if I don't, they'll be gone by the time I do." So I'm glad I did. I think that this mug will be my 'go to' drinking mug. And I picked up a skull too, because it reminded me of something out of "A Nightmare Before Xmas."
Now on to the Ohana Hut (#18/100). Simply put, it's frigging gorgeous. The colors, the detail, it's just incredible. I can't wait to try it out. Personally I may have to christen it with a quadruple mojito, since I have a freezer full of silver rum and a garden full of mint, but I'm taking suggestions.
Anyhow, I'm going to get back to the schoolwork, but I just wanted to share the incredibly positive experience that I had with Munktiki. Cheers!

I was excited about getting mine too, karmalaundry. I got notice that it would be delivered Friday. I was working out of town but was returning home Friday. First thing I asked about when I walked in was, "Did I get a package from Munktiki today?" Sure enough it was there waiting for me. I didn't even take the time to unpack my suitcase before I opened the Ohana Hut package. Stuckie did a FANTASTIC job on the packaging to ensure it didn't get broken. (Insert "Yeeah Stuckie here!!") It was safe and in 2 pieces (like it should have been). Since I had seen the prototype at Forbidden Island, I knew what to expect, but somehow, because it was mine, it was so much bigger and more detailed.
I share your excitement, karmalaundry. I will be christening mine very soon too.

I'm starting to get a little nervous. When I check the UPS tracking number, I get this message:
YOUR PACKAGE HAS EXPERINCED AN EXCEPTION
AN INCORRECT ROUTING AT A UPS FACILITY CAUSED THIS DELAY;THE PACKAGE WAS MISSORTED AT THE HUB. IT HAS BEEN REROUTED TO THE CORRECT DESTINATION SITE
This message hasn't changed since yesterday morning. I hope it didn't get lost...

I think it's the curse of that delivery address.

As someone who deals with UPS daily (home office), I think they just hired their holiday help. Two of my packages (non Tiki) received the same message last week. It was their error. It was straightened out quickly. So it's probably just the holiday help.

As someone who used to work for UPS, that just means that your package got loaded in the wrong trailer/package car/masher/etc., they realized it, and fixed the problem. It usually means that the person loading said container was asleep at the switch.
It should be fine.

The holiday help doesn't usually start until next month, and even when they do, they usually aren't in charge of the QC, they're just bodies to dump on high volume areas with a "regular" checking the packages before they get loaded. Holidays are anything but fun in hub.

Happy to report that O.H 1/100 is safe and sound and in my lovin' monkey arms. Man these things are packed so well that not even the USPS could break um.
Thanks for everything Stuckie!!

Now the UPS website is giving a different message:
YOUR PACKAGE HAS EXPERIENCED AN EXCEPTION
POSTAL CODE LISTED FOR THE RECEIVER IS INCORRECT. UPS IS ATTEMPTING TO OBTAIN CORRECT POSTAL CODE AND COMPLETE DELIVERY.;THE ADDRESS HAS BEEN CORRECTED. THE DELIVERY HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED
Stay tuned...
