Wendy- Yeah, a kiln load of broken sure stinks! I think I may have found the problem. It's not the firing, it's that two glazes do not like each other. I tried using clear on the inside of the sea horses instead of white and got 3 for 3. Now if I try that on 10 mugs I'll know for sure if that was the problem.
Kenny- You bet I was cryin' 'til I was hoarse! A guy can only take so much! Can't wait to get a big hug from you at Oasis, ol' chum!
Clarita- Thanks! Hopefully I've solved the problem!
Here's what managed to survive the sea horse holocaust. I'm still a few short of the edition, but I'll get them as time passes.
I'm also making some custom sea horses. This one I call The HELL HORSE. Solid red, black horns, white eyes. How much more scary can it get??
I also went nuts glazing some blanks of my Minimalist Moais. These are a new variant with no two the same. Callin' them Geo-Moais.
And just when you thought it was safe, Bowana's Tiki Freak Show blows back into town. New conjoined Moai pendants!
I'll have all of this and more available at the indoor vending at Tiki Oasis. Hope to see you there!
Thanks for visiting!
Bowie

That's a bummer Bowana about the horsies...
I've used the Amaco glaze but have thinned it down, seems to set up faster and thicker than many of my other glazes I use.
Cya soon at TO, can't wait to see all your killer tiki goodness there!! aloha

Dave, all looks great. I'm sure the conjoined Moai pendants will be supremely popular at TO (I want one, too). The new minimalist Moais are perfect. Look forward to seeing the seahorses in person.
All the best!

hang10tiki- Thanks, Jon! Nice seeing you at Oasis. Sorry we didn't get to catch up too much. Busy, busy! Hope you had fun. My dad came on Sunday. I don't think he really gets the Tiki thing, but he digs the car show and the rockabilly music. Hmm.. maybe he does get it after all!
Beachbumz- Great meeting you guys at Oasis, Scott! Looks like you did well! I had trouble not only with the white Amaco glaze, but also the white Duncan glaze (IN1100). I experimented using Amaco LG10 clear on the inside of 3 mugs and got 3 of 3 unbroken. It doesn't make sense, but if it works I'm for sure going to stick with it!
TikiAno- Thanks for buying the first conjoined moai pendant! Great hanging out at TO. I forgot to ask how you resolved your "give everyone free coffee at Comic Con" deal.
swizzle- Thanks, my friend! Keep up your great work too!
Clarita- Gracias, amiga mia! The seahorse holocaust has been long and painful. Pretty sure it's over now though. Saludos!
hiltiki- Thanks for visiting, Hilda! Long time, so see.
danlovestikis- I missed you and Dan too, Wendy!
I've got 3 sea horse mugs available. 1 brown and 2 yellers.
8 1/2" high. $70 each, plus $10 to ship in the US.
PM me if you are interested.
Thanks for stopping by!

hi Bowana,
I love your Minimalist Moais! I've never seen anything like that before. Very fun.
