OKOK, I know...the CHIN! Might have to name it GREAT SCOTT WHERE'S YOUR blankin' CHIN/neck!?
Anyway, this is the most recent. Pic makes him look small but he is about 3.75 feet tall, Washingtonian Palm and 18"+ across at the top, dried for 2+years and still weighs in at 200+ lbs.
Obviously he won't be planted...since he doesn't have a freaking neck.
A little better planning would have been a good idea on my part, or a little less contraband, but I totally screwed up on placement.
My question to you all is, when working with a log of limited height, where do you prefer to start in order to best avoid the dreaded 'ran out of room scenario.'
Any and all advise will be greatly apprecated!

Try drawing out the whole design in pencil or chalk before you start carving...
