I imagine it would. I've only painted over it. Perhaps if you only applied it to the back, leaving the top surface uncoated, then you could still apply stain in the normal way.

Paul, they were designed to fit in a specific space. They have two tall and narrow wall sections where the tikis will be hung. Hopefully, they will post a photo when that happens!
Big T, yeah, I did just that, really soaked it in on the backside, and less on the front, where it got a black stain, so it wasn't really noticable at all.
