Jake flails at Skippers Smokehouse on Thursday night in the Skipperdome.
I'm in.
Hot Lava is in.
I'm sure KokaNut will be there.
Yo, Fort Liquordale! A great time on Friday would be to hang out with Haole Kats in the Molokai Lounge, then swing over to Alligator Alley to see Jake play. Or you could check out Jake in Sunrise on Saturday, add the Intoxicators at the Jetsetter and you've got yourself a serious music weekend.
Look at Hotlava's post for the whole itinerary.

So close, yet so far away...just can't do it, unfortunately.
Tell Jake I say hi!

How was Jake's show? Does he perform solo, or does he have a backing band? How much of his set list was Hawaiian music?
He is playing here in the DC area (at the Birchmere) on the 14th.

Sorry, I should have dated it, it's March 8th.
I've seen Jake before, with RustyKey, the summer before last.
He played alone and whipped that baritone uke into submission.
It was a very unique set, all kinds of music and all of it good.
He's a genuinely nice guy and you could tell he was into what he was doing.
Worth every nickel.
Don't buy him a drink, though - unless it's a Shirley Temple. He even wrote a song about it.

I'm curious as to whether he'll be solo on this tour too, supporting the "Gently Weeps" album. Either way, I know it's going to rock. And the ticket prices in Tampa are a steal at $7.
I have all the tour dates posted on my blog: http://tikitalk.astropad.com/archives/gently-weeps-ukuleliest-jake-shimabukuro-begins-2007-us-tour/
Two days to go. I'm psyched!

Good show. Skipper's is always a hoot. Good oysters.
They need some tikis.
Jake was pretty mellow. That's fine because I was too.
Great to see Hot Lava and Lady Lava enjoying the whiz kid.
The audience was incredibly receptive. The place was completely silent for the opening number.
In a good way.
And that's the 12 second review...
If you can, go see him.

Pablus hits it on the head -- great playing (as is to be expected), but very mellow). He didn't really crank it up until the encore song, "Me and Shirley T."
He is supporting the "Gently Weeps" album which is solo except for the bonus tracks and mid- to down-tempo. Still, it was a great show, and Jake very graciously signed autographs while the Grateful Dead cover band he was sandwiched between blared away.
