I swore off buying any more cocktail shakers-I have more than I'll ever need. At the Brea Goodwill someone must have donated their collection and there were some very nice ones on the shelves. I picked out two, one for my brother Tikivato and one for my son.I told my wife that I wasn't going to buy another unless it had a recipe for something other than a manhattan, whiskey sour, tom collins, etc, etc. Check out this one and you'll see why I could not resist. I am weak!
Cheers

Mahalo Hilt The only negative with this shaker is it's size. Can only make one Mai tai at a time. Size does matter.
Cheers

This was a wedding gift from my grandparent's to my parent's. Now it's mine.

I have been unpacking some things into the new house and came across a box that I had not seen before. I am guessing it was my parents but I don't remember ever seeing these.
If anyone is familiar with old Washington DC, there was a great department store called Lansburgh's that closed in the 70s and my grandmother worked there until they closed. I knew when I saw the box it probably had something vintage in it, but hard to tell what.
Don't you love the old boxes? Wish stores did nice stuff like that again.
This is what was inside.
I know the middle one is typically used for grabbing pickles from tall jars, and the one on the bottom is used for cherries and olives, but the one at the top has me stumped. Anyone know what that gadget was used for? All three have mother of pearl handles. They will be finding a space in the new wetbar once I get to unloading dishes and such into it.

Trader Tom, You made my day. Wherever did you find that ad for the Lemon Hart shaker? TC'ers continue to amaze the devil outta me.

I found it here:
http://ronaldsearle.blogspot.com/2007/01/lets-toast-to-new-year-with-lemon-hart.html
Searle's art was used by Lemon Hart for quite a while and there are some other barware pieces with his characters on them. Cool find!

Trader T, thanks for the link to the Searle blog. Amazing artwork, sadly Ronald Searle passed away last year. How did you make the connection from an okay find on T C to such a cool ad campaign by Lemon Hart/ronaldsearle blogspot?

Very cool! Could that possibly be for sugar cubes?

Thanks Lukeulele. I never thought about sugar cubes.
I think with his answer and ATP backing it up...we have a winner.
Thanks

I've seen the shaker before on e-Bay, but I think the first Searle images I saw were in this illustrated Lemon Hart cocktail book:
Copies can still be found occasionally/inexpensively through bookfinder.com or other used book listings on Amazon, etc...

Last weekend yielded a few sets of these tabasco sauce drink glasses with fun graphics and this ice bucket with illustrations of most of the records that are in the vinyl section of Goodwill’s across America.
