It's been way too long since I have posted anything on here....so I figure it about time I do!!
I worked on carving some tikis this weekend and had a blast doing it....these are the first tikis I have ever carved and now truly appreciate the talent so many of you have for carving. This carving business is truly hard and I have learned that I need many more chisels than just one....LOL! Gonna stock up on some very soon!! I used a couple tikis from this site for inspiration, so I hope no one gets to upset....These are just for my backyard and will not be selling them profit. Here they are....
This one is about 20" X 14"
This one is a tiny little guy....About 6" tall
Thanks for looking!!

Here's an update on the tiki I carved....I got some clear finish on him!!
I've also been real busy lately working on my backyard...
Hopefully by the end of the summer I'll have it mostly done.
I'm hoping to have quite a few more tikis carved and get a roof on the hut pretty soon.
Thanks for looking!!

Hey Ken....
I was leaning more toward a rusty tin roof this go around.
I had a palm thatch roof on it but, it only last about 3 years here,
we have pretty harsh winters here in kansas.
I may do tin and check on some artificial thatch to lay over it for the tropical look.
Yep....when finished it will be a nice paradise to hang out!!
I'm having a ton o fun doing it!!
Here is a pic from 3 years ago.....in the beginning.

What wood did you use on the tiki head? Just getting into carving myself and so far choices in wood is the problem.

How do you keep the local birds/racoons/critters from eating all your coi?! We have great blue herons and king fishers that wipe out most pond fish around here, and what THEY don't get the neighborhood cats and random racoons get! Heard about one place that strung fishing line all across it to thwart the buggers - myabe that black plastic netting might work and be not as visible? Nice place by the way!

Yeah people around here also have problems with birds taking their fish...
I have guard dogs that keep watch for me!!
Suka...She is Arctic Wolf and German Shepard
Missy....She is a Black Lab
They really keep a good eye on things for me..
And love to watch the fish but never try and eat them!!
They are super well behaved and listen well
Missy loves the water but never gets in the pond!!
