We are pleased to present the TikiRacer Tale of Terror, for your Halloween entertainment.

An 15 minute short story film in the style of Jackanory.

This link takes to you a web page that should play the movie using quicktime. [File size about 30mb, so not good for dialup].

Sorry too big for youtube.

Bonus Feature.
Here's a photo from the soundstage...

Nice one, TikiRacer!

It was a good story, tho' unfortunately, I could only get the sound on my version of Quicktime.

The idea of combining Tiki with Lovecraft is an excellent one, which I'm sure has a lot of potential artistic mileage!
One of the things I love that Tiki happily includes is marine biology. Something that even most fans of Lovecraft are not aware of is that H.P.L. got a lot of inspiration from the German biologist Ernst Haeckel (1834-1919).His Monist philosophy and Lamarckian evolutionary theory often seem to be an influence in Lovecraft's stories. He is also famous for an extraordinary collection of drawings of marine and other organisms called 'Kunstformen der Natur' (Artforms in Nature)
(1904), some of which would very obviously inspire Lovecraft's imagination. Here is a page about it, that includes a downloadable pdf file of 'Kunstformen'. Click to see some of the original 'Demons of the Depths'!

Good story! The story was well written and Tiki Racer has a voice for telling it. Love seeing all those mugs that I have yet to get for my collection and every time Racer took a sip, it made me smile(or giggle). You could hear the gulps. Was there a refill in there somewhere in the middle? Again cool mugs, cool bar, and sweet lamp. New Mug?

Thanks for the cool remarks.

It was always planned to be youtube project but the timing got away from me. Once it was filmed couldn't really find a way to make it short enough for youtube - will do a version in 2 parts, soon. That should make it more readily viewable but all.

I love the lovecraft, it's even more scary when you remember when these were written. Plus there has not been too many film/tv versions of his work to define the look of the monsters from his stories, I find my imagination creates things so much more horrible. The one exception is the work of the guys and girls from the HP Lovecraft Historical Soc, they have done some amazing work. Call of Cth movie is brilliant, done on a micro budget and all in black and white with no dialogue.

The mug I'm drinking from should/might be available from Cheekytiki [London] next year. I'll try and find some more details.

The drink for filming wasn't rum based I have to confess, but our wrap party went onto the early hours and did involve the horror that is the Zombie [Grog log].

I've got a limited edition linocut of the canoe [only 15 off], which I'll put on my site end of the month.

Great story, really great effort. The music was amazing and really set the mood, the story was fun and engaging. Wanted to know more about the effect of the potion in the bottle. (or did I miss something)

I love Lovecraft also and had the privilege of being an on set artist and production artist in a 1991 production of a movie for HBO - Lovecraft Cast a deadly spell! Worked with art dept/stunts/special effects to maintain the realism and integrity of the 1940's period styling! The feature was filled with the necronomicon, spells, gremlins, unicorns, gargoyles and Cthulhu. It starred Fred Ward (as HP Lovecraft), Julianne Moore and David Warner, and was directed by Martin Campbell of James Bond/Casino Royale fame! We won a primetime Emmy for the production, and it remains one of my most memorable Hollywood jobs.

So cool to see such a stellar script and some great acting by Tiki Racer! Bring on some more!

Great tale.
Worthy of a calabash filled with the finest okolehao from the chief's private stash.

Hey JP

Any ideas where I can find a copy of the "cast a deadly spell"? looks great. Dvd [any region] or even digital files,I can read more types.

Might create another tale - written or/and performed by guests. Make a series of it.

unfortunately CADS has never been released on DVD - however you can frequently find a VHS version on Ebay! I will keep my 'eyes' open for one for you!

You have a volunteer here (at least to perform it!)
