Greetings,
I am fairly new to the Tiki art scene. I am a Freelance Illustrator based in Michigan (no Tikis here!) and I have dabbled in several categories of art including: Comics, Children's Educational Books, Role Playing Game Art, Pin-Ups, Fine Art, Coloring Books, etc.
A few years back I stumbled onto the Low brow art scene via Juxtapoz magazine and the world of Tiki soon followed.
Lately, I have been browsing around Tiki Central, checking out all of the amazing art, while trying to work up the courage to post some of my own.
The following images are graphite with digital color:
Mystiki
Tiki
Sunset Tiki
These pieces are available as prints from my gallery at Imagekind.com.
Here is the link for anyone interested: http://anthonycarpenter.imagekind.com/Illustrationville
I'll get some of my sketches scanned for the next post.
Until then, thanks for looking!

Really nice work, welcome to TC
Love them all, mystiki for the intrigue and atmosphere, les girls for the perfect simplicity, the eye-robotfor just being cool. Sweet

Thanks for the warm welcome.
Tiki Shark : Thanks! I'm a big fan of your work as well. Your in-progress posts are great. Graphic Novel, eh? Hmmm, that's an idea I may have to explore.
hewey : Thanks! The Les Girls image was actually a piece from my sketchbook. It was a serendipitous composition. I scanned the page, got rid of the extraneous sketches and added the colored blocks and text. One of the nice things about sketchbooks is that often relationships between disparate images will occur on their own.
uncle trav: Thanks! A Tiki lounge in/near K-zoo? Who'd a thunk it? I live in GR and there is nothing here. Thanks for the heads up about the Locating Tiki page. I'll have to check it out.
VampiressRN : Thank you very much! You are my first sale on the site. Please let me know how things go. If there is anything you find unsatisfactory, give me a shout.
Here are a couple of sketches that I enhanced with Photoshop for my sketch-blog:
The Tiki and the Girl
Bingo Bango Bongo!
Question: What are the rules regarding nudity here? I have a couple of pieces that I'd like to share, but I don't want to offend anyone.

Very Cool work Anthony!
I especially dig on the vintagey ones..they have a feeling like
those old GI pinup/comics mags back in the day!
As for nudity-don't think it's a problem...throw a warning in your title...
Great art man! Let's see some more!
Welcome to TC!

Love the sketches, especially the girl with the vintage hair Great whimsical
As far as nudity, I'd suggest just post the link to the image in your post, with a note saying it's a nudie. That way people can decide if they want to view it or not. The problem with a note in the title is that in 6 months time (with a different title) someone might go through the whole thread and get no warning to the pics... It also depends on how 'naughty' it is', like some of Coop's girls show everything and are basically pornagrphic, but a vintage topless hula girl should be fine.

teaKEY : Thanks.
Little lost tiki : Thanks. It's amazing what a little sepia tone will do to an image.
hewey : Thanks. The images I was thinking of are pretty tame. Mostly topless . . . nothing pornographic. I'll add some links in my next post.
Here is an image from a gallery show I was a part of late last year. The show was a four man affair with fellow comic book/fantasy artists Jack Snider, Scott Rosema and Mike Mason. My portion of the show was based on an amalgam of Pulp art, B-movies, Serials and Men's Adventure Magazines. This was the only Tiki image.
Curse of the Tiki Cult
I also have some in progress scans of this one, if anyone is interested.

Yes! Beautiful drawing - the composition, tone and lighting are all spot-on. Post the others too!

Thanks, Paipo. Here they are.
Top left: Thumbnail sketch
Top right: The initial drawing on smooth-finish bristol
Bottom left: Outlining forms and filling in tones
Bottom right: Nearly there
More work from the show can be seen here: http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryRoom.asp?GSub=40469
As promised, here are some links to pieces that contain nudity and are NSFW.
This one was created as a commission and was featured in the Reader Art section of Juxtapoz.com.
Night of the Tiki: http://tinyurl.com/2xq4oy
This was also a commission. This time of Frank Cho's character, Brandy, from Liberty Meadows. When a client gives me free reign
on an image, I usually end up adding Tikis or some other retro elements.
Brandy's Tiki Lounge: http://tinyurl.com/2g4e6f
I have been creating Pin-Up art and auctioning the work on eBay. As a big fan of 60's sexploitation movies (I have a large collection
from Something Weird Video), I recently stumbled upon the idea of creating my own movie poster images and paperback book covers.
This one is called "The Mutant Sex Fiend of Tiki Island": http://tinyurl.com/2fspb8
This was created for an eBay auction.
Club Tiki: http://tinyurl.com/2k4l82
Thanks for looking.

AWESOME STUFF!! GROG like.
Some of your sci-fi art has a real Virgil Finlay/Frank Kelly Freas feel to it. Excellent stuff.
You ARE are a REEEEAAL good drawer, like Tikishark said.
GROG give two semi-opposable thumbs up.

Yeah The stuff up for sale on the comic art site have a very Virgil Finlay feel!
The drawing of the couple at the lake facing off the aliens - and the guy has a retro lookin' Aloha shirt on!
Okay, someone needs to wirte a pulp action "tiki island adventure" novel that all those beeeeeutiful jungle adventure pencil drawings could illustrate! (Please!)
Keep up tha amazing work!
