So here it is.

My 1000th post. It's been fun here. Now..after we take one down and pass it around let's get started with that old drinking song of yore.."999 Mai Tais on the Wall".

Congratulations ..... I enjoy your posts, and hope to read more in the future.

The above collection of mai tais (I counted 354 of them) reminded me of the former Honolulu restaurant. I saved the little cocktail sword from every mai-tai I ever consumed in that place. I think I had 225 or so when the place finally closed in 2004.

Let's see, a Mai-Tai has roughly 225 calories. So multiply that by the number consumed (also 225 -- coincidence?) and you get a total of 50,625 empty calories. Okay, maybe "empty" nutritionally, but certainly not when counting the quality of life aspect.

Hmmm... maybe someone needs the
Hawaii Chair?

Thanks. Sometimes I feel like I'm perceived as the resident crank around here, but that's okay. I know I put down alot of current trends in popular culture. That's because they deserve it! But I understand. No one likes a whiner...at least not all the time. These days I'm limiting my posts to only Tiki and none in the 'Bilge' category.

Is that all? That's not bad. I've been successfully and unsuccessfully on and off Weight Watchers for that last four years or so, and have done rough calculations on the points values of some Tiki cocktails I mix at home from Grog Log and Intoxica. I think at one point I figured that a Tonga Zombie was 5 or six points, roughly 250-300 calories. That's not bad considering something like a Big Mac, which is off the freakin charts, is probably double that amount. I rarely eat those anyway... Maybe we could start a thread about Tiki cocktail calorie points on the 'Drinks and Food' forum unless someone has done that already (?).

I made it to 1000 posts. Looks like 160+ others have done it before me so I will just use an existing topic about it created previously by others. Maybe it's significant but it's only a number. No need to get overly excited and ....

Wait, what just happened!? Oh, I see it. So this is what happens on the thousandth Tiki Central posts. Wow, it's beautiful! Why didn't someone tell me about this before. I would have done this earlier. This is going to make life more wonderful. I got to check this out some more so I got to go...
