Aloha again,
As being of Ukraine / Europe descent and born Canadian, I have to rely on the net for my Polynesian / Hawaiian knowledge. Excuse my ignorance from this point on. What is the main visual difference in carvings between Ku an Kane?
Mahalo,

Figuring that it wouldn't be too hard to respond to your question, I've been searching Google and can see your dilemma. There is a lot of informative pages of tiki god history like this one:

But when it comes to pictures, the names and labeling get all screwy.
I'm far from an expert, but most Ku's have a headdress that is similar to this:
Trying to find a good Kane on the interwebs is harder to find. He has a headdress that is very similar to a Lono. But for a intensive purposes, he looks like this:
Spend some time looking around Tiki Central. There is a lot of talented people and great information that can help you out.

Kia ora Kolidra .
Kane , Tane here in NZ , is the Guardian (god) of the Forests .
Ku-kaili-moku , or Tu-mata-uenga in NZ , is the Guardian of War .
Thats the short version ,
here is the long one

I would hazard a guess , that the depiction depends on the particular portfolio that you want to portray . And they seem each have a few each
cheers ,
Na Jock
