NEWS FLASH!NEWS FLASH! NEWS FLASH!
There is a Enchanted Tiki Room 45th Ann. LIMITED EDITION of 45 ARTIST'S WATCH. The watch was released at the watch shop in June but nobody is paying any attention, we seem to be more?... concerned about a over priced plastic fountain that they STILL don't have ?

This is a very nice quality uni-sex watch artwork by Disney artist Davis Scott Smith and included are all the "fixins" Comes with A SIGNED LITHO OF THE TIME PEICE ART and all that you see here including the C.O.A.(certificate) A nice value I think & VERY Limited There were 30 left on 7/14/08 but now that it's posted who knows? Who knew? They are priced $250.00 and a AP Premium holder receives a 10% discount I would hurry...

For those who aren't familiar with the process... The Disney Artist draws an original,(in this case the original was sold at the release) then the original is "shrunk" through a process & 45 watch face sizes were then applied to the watch as well as 45 larger lithos of art to accompany your watch. The watches are Japanese works and are assembled right there in the clock shop on Main Street Disneyland U.S.A. Typically the more color... the higher the cost... Very nice art here...

IMPORTANT NOTE!! In week or two, Disneyland will Close the "Clock Shop" that has been on Main Street from the beginning (as far as I'm aware of for good) The reason? to bring in a "Higher End" store of originals, Ltd's "excellent" quality goods, Very much needed indeed but, why here at this location? some may be apparel but not likely? BUT.. good news is that the Artisan LTD Watches WILL BE INCLUDED in that shop say DISNEY OFFICIALS... that's all I know...

I am sorry, but in my opinion, Disney is really milking the collectors these days. Get a watch made in China, make it a "limited edition", throw in a copy of the design as "limited art print", plus a fancy "Certificate of Authenticity", and voila, it's $250.- bucks worth!

All I see is not the love for the subject matter that Kevin and Jody personify, but Disney merch folks with dollar signs in their eyes. Granted, because of the dollars it brings in, Kev'n'Jo get to do what they like AND get paid well, but how much more Tiki Room boxes and bracelets and broohaha can the market take?

I saw that watch the day of the event, and I didn't see anything eye popping about it, for such a steep pricetag. If you search ebay for "haunted mansion watch" for example, some of them light up, play a tune, say famous lines from the attraction and such. I guess I am more into the whimsical, bells and whistles when it comes to collectible watches, and thats why I'm standing by for my fountain!
In my eyes, that specific watch didn't look any different from a biglots closeout with the exception of the trademarked tiki room graphic on it. Gold colored bezel, leather band, its almost a standard for non-alarm/non digital and jeweled or quartz watches.

I agree, the watch is just okay, I am surprised that they didnt go all out on it. For $250 it should be amazing. They could of made it chime every hour with the tiki song, and had it look like a a carved out tiki god, anyone of them from outside the tiki room would of been perfect. Now were talking.

I do agree, Disney is way Overboard on the licensed merchandise and most is crap. Although, In all fairness the watch does look better in person as most things do, there are of course many exceptions I understand. I happen to feel the legitimate art is very nice & clever and is drawn by well educated Disney artist, maybe not a tiki lover ok, but not some yahoo either. It's not cheap looking at all, I think you have to visit the Clock Shop & see the way the process is completed to appreciate it. Again, it is Original Disney Artist made, all the images you see are based on birds, shields etc. that you see in the ETR so I don't know what else one would expect. It's not made in "China"... Japanese works as stated above, most likely Seiko (off the record I was told) as they are the largest time keeper in the biz. Granted, not a Tag Heuer or Rolex. I don't think the "Rongo" Bowl Kevin & Jody did is any better bang for the buck if were going to get right down to it. The bowl as well as every item sold for this Anniversary release is based on what you see in the ETR, so hows that different? People just want to feel good, have a little piece of nostalgia, be a part of it all, I get it. It doesn't have to be a "One of a kind" piece of art in any media for a zillion dollars to fit this bill. So in China someone sculpts a bowl or mug from the original image and it goes through the process and gets dipped in a 1 color glaze and a clear then retails for $30.00 bucks because it's a "LTD edition"... so whats that really worth ? $12.95 retail? They love tiki? Yes, they do, so do we all... just my opinion...
