So last night we had dinner at the Emeryville Trader Vic's. Over our Rum Giggle, Mrs. Royale reaches over the table and gives me a little bag containing my birthday present...
A small block of wood with a little bronze cockroach on it and a helluva' neat story on the back.
Holy mackeral! Needless to say I was pretty excited and a great time was had by all.

Victor Bergeron was a man of many talents.Not only was he a smart businessman,
a true entrepeneur, a risk taker, master bartender, a writer , an artist and last
but not least a sculptor.This brass cochroach is one of many bronze and brass
sculptures he created.I don't know how many of these were actually made, but
from my understanding they cut the bar up in many many pieces and sold these
off in Trader Vic gift shop and gave to personal friends of the bar.Talk about
a smart business man.Very cool gift.Give your wife a big wet kiss-just for her
great taste and class, and tell her I said so.
