I picked a couple of paintings up today by an artist named Val Ruel.
The second one is dated 1954. It has a real "Don the Beachcomber" theme going on.
The framing has a label marked "Keeble and Barbour Picture Framing, 441 El Camino Real, Menlo Park, California".
Anyone familiar with the artist?
Thanks for your help,
PTD

*Bump*
Anyone from the Bay Area familiar with the artist or framing company?

I'm absolutely no help at all, except I'd look for a guy who looks like the guy in the hammock... I'm guessin' that's Val right there.

That's a good idea, although I doubt he still looks like the guy in the painting.
It was painted in 1954, so he would be about 54 years older!
