Come on out and see The Hot Rod Hucksters rip it up once again at the Chef on Saturday March 16th. Here are the boys during their recording sessions at Sun Studios...

...It has been said that all rockabilly music sounds the same, but The Hot Rod Hucksters have been playing truly unique music since 2003. The band is comprised of four hard working guys from Chicago who call to mind an unholy amalgamation of Eddie Cochran, Johnny Burnette, The Cramps, and sometimes even the Stray Cats. Neo-Rockabilly, or whatever you want to label it, the music speaks for itself.

The drink special for Saturday 3/16 is a Bird of Paradise served in Collector Mug for $18.00, plus the usual (huge) selection of tropical drinks and asian fusion cuisine to help everyone through the night. What better way to warm up after all this snow than with the hot smokin' sounds of The Hot Rod Hucksters and the tropical ambiance of Chef Shangri-La?

Also, in honor of St Patty's Day the Chef will be serving GREEN Dr Fongs from 3/9 thru 3/17!!

Stay tuned for FREE raffle photo coming soon.

It's the return of the Revomatics to Chef Shangri-La's 3rd Saturday "Evening in Shangri-La" series, Saturday April 20th.

The Revomatics are an instrumental hot rod/surf band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their sound and look harkens back to early sixties bands like The Ventures, The Sentinels and The Surfaris. The group consists of veteran musicians who have been active in Milwaukee's local music scene since the later years of the 20th century. Their high octane set includes popular surf songs with a fuel injection of sixties garage rock and is sometimes augmented by Go-Go and Hula Hoop dancers. These fellows really know how to put the pedal down!

The drink special for Saturday 4/20 is (4) Tiki Shot Glasses w/house shots for $18.00, plus the usual (huge) selection of tropical drinks and asian fusion cuisine to help everyone through the night. What better way to spend a spring evening than with the high octane sounds of The Revomatics and the tropical ambiance of Chef Shangri-La?

Stay tuned for FREE raffle photo coming soon!

This month's "Evening in ShangriLa" 3rd Saturday event 5/18 brings the return of The Butterfields to the Chef...

...From their website:
The Butterfields are a trio of seasoned musicians from the Chicago area. Their love for surf, rockabilly and 60s era rock and roll radiates through their song selections and interpretations of them. Some of these tunes are classics and familiar to anyone's ear while others are more obscure. Any of these songs remind the listener of how great music was - back in its heydey.
From their FB page:
Surfabilly Psychedelic rock band that produces hallucinations and apparent expansion of consciousness.

The drink special for Saturday 5/18 is a Mai Tai in a collector mug for $18.00 , plus the usual (huge) selection of tropical drinks and asian fusion cuisine to help everyone through the night. What better way to spend a spring evening than with the psychedelic sounds of The Butterfields and the tropical ambiance of Chef Shangri-La?

See Ya at the Chef!

Stay tuned for FREE raffle photo coming soon!

The Chef is proud to announce The Amazing Heeby Jeebies appearing at this Month's "Evening in Shangri-La" Saturday 6/15...

...AMAZING HEEBY JEEBIES was born in the back seat of a '63 Caddy tearing down Highway 41. Amazing Ary and Earl "Wolfdaddy" knew they had created something that could be a sinners delight. Neighbors curiosity grew hearing the two bang out what became the foundation of AMAZING HEEBY JEEBIES.

Chicago Artist Ary started painting at a young age..but visual art was just not enough. When she turned 21, she became a regular fixture lurking in the shadows of the hippest live music shows mingling with international party girls, hep cats & kittens...now cutting her teeth as a musician/songwriter/performer, taking souls & rockin' bones on stage for the first time...raawwwr! This petite bad girl packs a powerful vocal punch like nobody's business. Her live performances show her provocative but sweet style, invoking artists from past and present, from blues to punk, hell raisin' rock n roll with a twist and shake of vintage kitsch.

Earl "Wolfdaddy" Carter is also one of the two original members of The Riptones, and before that he was in numerous other insane notable local bands (Deacons, Deke Rivers, Rebel Rousers, The Buzzerds, and the late and great Elvis impersonator Tom Green). Slappin' & howlin' in league with the hellhounds from the blazin' fires of nitro moonshine madness, Wolfdaddy will make you scream!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...
their complete bio available here

This month is also the Chef's annual Wiki Waki Luau with 2 performances by Aloha Chicago (more info here http://chefshangrila.com) & the drink special is a $20 (lg) Dr. Fong with T-shirt, plus the usual (huge) selection of tropical drinks and Asian fusion cuisine to help everyone through the night. Why not come out early Saturday, catch the second Hula show, and then at 9:30 pm enjoy the "Dixiefried Garagabilly" sounds of Amazing Heeby Jeebies, plus the monthly FREE raffle! Photo coming soon.

See Ya at the Chef!
