Threw me off too when you changed the topic name. At least I can pronounce "Jason", not sure what I would do with "Iokona Ki'i"

Beautiful work Jason, you've really come into your own with the black velvets.

Thanks Mike! Just tryin to keep things simple. Not much room for error.
Can't really paint over it and start again if you make a mistake like with other grounds.
That's part of the fun and why I like it the best.

So are you officially back from your non-tiki duties?
How'd that project go. Miss seein' what inventive goodies
you always create.

Next progress pic...then to put a flower pattern
on the skirt and a little fine tuning and stick a fork in it!

Thanks Mike!
Thought that was a catchy title.
Leleliz gets credit for it.
Look forward to seeing your hard work!

Almost done...just a little more fine tuning,
or as grog says...F'ing it up!

I literally laughed out loud when I saw you changed the title to this thread !

Yeah who the hell are you anyways????

Are you planning on matting this velvet in the same manner at the Betties?

That's a beautiful new one, Jason. You really have a gift for capturing the female form and making imperfect look perfectly beautiful.

And you know by imperfect, I mean anti the current day idea of what is perfect.

I love this new one, the lighting and soft focus are absolutely spot-on. Brilliant!

Thought you'd get a kick outta that Leleliz!
Wish I could come up with some brilliant existentialist answer to that
eternal question of all questions.
All I got is...Claudette's monkeyboy!

I'm looking at some weaved mats for this one. Similar frame.

Hey Miss Kiki von Tiki! Thanks for the feedback. I understand what you're saying
perfectly...I mean imperfectly! ...and concur.

Cheers Paipo! It makes me happy to hear that my paint slinging on velvet gets this
kind of response. And all the way from New Zealand! Wow!

Mahalo tygerjymmy! Thanks for diggin the velvet thingy!

I'm thinking not to do a mat for this one. Got a frame
that works well with it. Will let it dry for a while before
actually framing it.
Here's a low res pic...

Cheers!

Hey "Who the Hell is J. Sallin"! You've been a busy boy I love the way the "Veleteen Vahine" turned out, nice detail work on the skirt (yes, I did look that low). "The New One" is looking good already (you really need to name these lovely ladies for us so we can refer to them properly )

Good choice on that dark frame and no matting.

Hey Iokona Ki'i, The last one is beautiful and the new one is looking mysterious like one of those Marwal hula girl heads - realistic and very attractive!

Thanks Mike, Leleliz, and Sam!

Cheers for noticing the skirt Mike. I had fun doing it even though I wasn't
looking forward to working on it. Think it turned out alright. Looking forward
to doing more to get better. And you're right, I guess I should come up with
some names for these. So the skirted one is "Dusky Maiden" and this portrait study
is "Tehani".

Mahalo Sam! I love those Marwal girl heads! Classic stuff. Hopefully I can get one
one of these days for my collection.

Next...
