Okay, except for the utterly loathesome "Polynesian Snack," there is nothing remotely tiki here.

But I laughed till I cried, so here you are:
UTTERLY disgusting, totally funny Weight Watchers recipe cards, circa 1974.

They don't call it "the decade that taste forgot" for nothin'.

Just click on the first card to start a slideshow, with highly appropriate and amusing commentary, at:

Lucky for me I clicked on the fish balls first. From there on out it was pure hilarity.

This is why I had to quit Weight Watchers and return to my usual zaftig self.

You would be even more horrified if the webmaster had posted the actual recipes. In the early days of Weight Watchers, members were required to eat liver once a week. gross!

Not to stray too far from the original subject, but one of the first (paying) gigs my high school surf band played was at Sam's Seafood for a T.O.P.S. party (Take Off Pounds Sensibly). AS I recall, I didn't get laid that night, but I made $50.00 bucks!

"Convenience Fish"?!

oh. my. god.

I need a Snack On A Stick, just to get over the trauma.
