I like to try "new" stuff in tiki drinks, and I discovered frozen "Amazon Cherry" pulp at Whole Foods. I figure that if Don Beach or Vic were around today, they'd be experimenting with some of the stuff we have today, like Pomm's pomegranite tea, or Acai fruit, etc.
I won't compare this with drinks by the masters, but this is a pretty tasty cocktail:
3/4 oz Amazon Cherry (I mash it into a shot glass with a spoon, defrosting it a bit)
1/2 oz lime
1/2 OJ
1/2 oz lemon
1 oz Jamaican (Appleton's)
1 oz PR Lite (Cruzan)
1 tsp Pimento Liqueur
1/2 oz sugar syrup
1 tsp Grenadine
1 tsp Demerrara 151
Dash Bitters (Peychauds is nice with this)
Shake with ice - float Demerarra

Isn't amazon cherry the same thing as acai?
Sounds good, will definitely give it a try.

Yes, it is the same as Acai - but I thought "Amazon Cherry Punch" sounds more "tiki"!
