Mai Tai. With Saint James Extra Old and Coruba. SMOOOOOOOOTH. A good way to usher in warm weather here in Kazoo.

Mai Tai again. This one with El Dorado 15yr all the way. Some say it's a crime to mix with this one, if so I'm one happy criminal. Tikiyaki on the box making the mood.
9:34 ET Another Mai Tai. This one with Appleton Estates V/X and Maui Dark Rum. Very good!!

Mai tai. Second of the evening. Started out with a Mai Tai, then went with a double Donga Punch. Now back to Mai Tai.
The first was made with 2 oz. Appleton's Extra. Out of necessity, this one is 1 oz. Extra, 1 oz. St. James Extra Old. I prefer mai tais made from purely Jamaican rum. The Martinique adds a grassy, harsh flavor. It works well in spicy drinks (Donga Punch, 3 Dots), but I don't think it complements the flavors in a Mai Tai.

Made my first home-made syrups today (cinnamon, honey mix) and celebrated by making a more "technical" drink than I usually do. And... my God... just... friggin'... amazing. Obviously, I didn't have the exact ingredients, and screwed with it a little... but it still came out being a thing of beauty.
Taken (sorta) from Trader Tiki:
THE WISDOM OF PELE
1oz strong rum (calls for 151, all I've got is Sailor's at 92)
1oz dark rum (Goslings Black Seal)
1oz light rum (Cruzan)
1oz gold (aged) rum (Appleton V/X is the closest I've got right now)
3/4oz lime juice
3/4oz grapefruit juice
3/4oz falernum
1/2oz honey mix
1/2 cinnamon syrup
2 dashes of bitters
Damnnnn... I wish I had made a bucket of these.

I'm sure someone has drink similar to this, but I just threw together
4oz. Sailor Jerry
1oz. grapefruit juice
1/2 oz. cinnamon syrup
1/2 oz. simple syrup
Not too bad... For now I'll call it Girl In Every Port.

I'm making a Test Pilot and a TV Mai Tai with Goslings Black Seal ontop. Hopefully my limes will produce more than 1/4 oz of juice per fruit this time.

Beachbum Berry's version of the Zombie with the following modifications:
Appleton Extra for the Meyers, El Dorado 151 for the Bacardi 151, and the addition of five drops of Pernod.

Goin' low key tonight.
Cuba Libre with Gosling's Black Seal and Pepsi Natural.
The Pepsi Natural is pretty good... but still not as good as a Mexican Coke.
I'll go back to those next time.
I'll have to try that Girl in Every Port. I've got a half a bottle of Sailor Jerry's and not really any recipes for it to go into. Used to drink the hell out of it, but once I started really getting into the cocktails, it's kinda just lingering back there behind the other bottles.
Silently waiting... knife in hand... sly grin on face.

I'm having a beer(VB-Victoria Bitter)at work with the boys before i go home.
Then i think i'll have a rum old-fashioned.
I've been making them with passionfruit syrup and orange bitters, instead of gomme and angostura.Best rum so far has been Bacardi 8.

Started a few hours ago: Two "Hundred Dollar Mai Tais" and then some Ron Diplomatico Exclusive Reserve straight up followed with an Ambien night cap. I'm fallling asleep as I key this in, It's a bit weird cause things start to get a bit jittery and two dimensional images start to show three. They may look sort of like they're pulsating or breathing or even sticking out of the page. The whole Ambien thing is strange, if you don't go lay down to sleep you start to go into a dream state while you are still awake. Sort of like turning into a sleep walking lucid dreaming kook looking for food or booze or sex or maybe a joyride in the car. No need to worry about me though, My wife strapped me to the bed, she got tired of all the shenanigans. Well at least I'll still get the sex part. Now I just have to get her over here. Oh great... she's asleep now, totally out... And now that I'm strapped down, I can't even reach her or anything other than this notebook computer. SHIT this sucks, shoutings no good, she is out stonecold. Oh well, another night wasted. Hey!Let me try to toss the notebook computer at her, maybe that will wake her. Here we go, one... two.... threee

Uhhm, excuse me, but this is Mrs. Hakalugi. I just got beaned with a computer (I'll be okay, just a bruise) I then read Mr. Hakalugi's post leading up to it, I submitted his post as I don't think he had the foresight to realize what exactly he was doing AND so you could see what I've been having to deal with. Nevertheless, If any of you Tiki people ever see my husband acting this way, please tell him to stop and to go home where he can lay down in a bed and hopefully fall asleep properly! Lord knows he won't listen to me. I'm at my wits end. This sleep/awake shit is driving me nuts. Sorry for my rant but any help would be appreciated. Now please excuse me and go back to your tiki talk and photo association whatever.
Thanks.
-Mrs. H

Reply to Mrs. H:
Dear, when your husband is drinking some quality drinks, by all means join him. Why should he have all the fun?
