Laura and I met up with a group of friends last night at DTB and we got 1st class treatment. All of us ate in the bar area. Once they realized we were a big group they put the tables together and really went out of their way to make us happy. Before we ordered our food they brought out a bunch out complimentary appitizers. Poke Tacos, Calimari, Kilua Pork Quesadillas, and Spinach dip. It was totally delicious! It was a really nice guesture. I am guessing because they knew some of us from previous events. The drinks were really really good Too!! They even changed the music for us and put on some exotica. I was really impressed!! All of us enjoyed our meals and had a really nice time talking and joking around. So I urge everybody to visit "Don the Beachcombers" and support this place. Keep in mind that you do not need an event to have a good time here. The atmossphere is perfect for catching up with friends, taking your hottie on a date, or just hanging out for a few cocktails after work. I highly recommend supporting this place!!
Thanks Don's!!

I was there last night too. No complaints about Wayne thats for sure.
He seemed genuinely happy we were there.
Which made me even happier to be there.
I was very impressed. In fact much more so than when it was Sam's.
GASP!!! Sorry, is that wrong of me?
I still can't get how good that tasty food was outta my head.
More Poke Tacos please.
I'm really looking forward to my next visit.
All that AND I was very happy with my drink.
My Navy Grog was some kinda yummmmy!
It was a really nice night!
Thanks again for the warm welcome Wayne and help make a nice night with friends even nicer.
I'll be back.

I did the front recently to look like that b/w pic of the original Don the Beachcomber.
I'm doing some more in the next few days to the interior.
Maybe even some more in the future.
Art Snyder rocks!
Visit this place !
Help keep real TIKI in OC...

That guy is such a funny writer ...or so he tries to be. Really hard. But not only is his sarcasm really forced, he doesn't realize that he is repeating almost word for word the cliches that journalists used in the 1970s and 80s to ridicule Polynesian pop and its customers. An amazing Deja Vue: We, re-born as Polynesiacs, they the media, re-incarnated as the cynical "Good Taste" police. This must be an ancient battle of good vs. evil!
The food thing is unfortunate, but we have been thru that here. Too bad it is in the press now.

God, I hate to see what they say when Don's starts adding the classic Cantonese dishes to the menu.
Critics....F*ck em.

Does Don's have the Sunday brunch with the floor show that Kona had every Sunday ? It would be cool to hit that before Ben's gig at noon.
