Just a note to let everybody know that Nutty is playing the Echo in Echo Park Tuesday night, 3/17. Nutty is not so much tiki as it is "jetsetter jazz", but if any of you are like me (and Crazy Al, Jeff BTD and some of the others I've had the pleasure of getting to know so far) you'll get yer kicks from the whole Rat Pack/classic rock meets classic jazz scene that is Nutty. I'm into just about anything retro, and I'm guessing a lot of you are as well. We've put shows together with C-Al, Robert Drasnin, the Martini Kings and DJ Bonebrake in the past that worked really well. This particular show will also feature DJ's Bonebrake Syncopators. I hope to see some of you there. Stop up and say hello if you do. Downbeat is at 9pm. $8 at the door. If you contact me via TC I'll put you on the $5 list.
It's a gas!

Thanks Jeff. And with all due respect to Mr. Cheese, I want to add that the music is much more important and involved than with what he does. It will linger long after the last laugh, and it will keep you guessin'. Most people get the pop/rock references, jazz people get the jazz references, and everybody seems to like the way it all comes together.
Snagging a familiar line from an old TV ad, "Try it, you'll like it!"

No, it's cool. It's a very common comparison. Cheese is great, really funny. We have that humor element, but the music is much more elaborate and involving.
C'mon folks, lend us yer ears!

ducking for thrown objects.

Absolutely, although there's some good stuff from the 80s as well; we do the Police's "Message In A Bottle" with Dizzy Gillespie's "Manteca" and throw in a little "Gilligan's Island" theme in the middle just for kicks.
Squid, I'll put you on the $5 list. Hope to see you there.

Good times, guys. Thanks again for coming. It's time to put together a retro extravanganza with Tiki/Exotica, Lounge/Jazz, Swing and all things retro! It could be the show of the year.
Not too many pix got taken. Of course, none were taken of Nutty. Next time...
