Thanks, pdrake ........your response peaked my interest, so I had to go to Wikipedia to check it out.
If anybody else was wondering, "koru" is a Maori word and the circular shape of the koru helps to convey the idea of perpetual movement while the inner coil suggests a return to the point of origin.
Pretty cool stuff.

i encourage you to explore the maori symbolism more. there's much there. they're a fascinating and beautiful culture.
