I got this from a local SF architectural group:

<<HeritageYP invites to you to a happy hour next Tuesday, August 25th at 6:30 pm at Trad’r Sams, a historic tiki bar that opened in 1941. Architectural historian Christopher VerPlanck will present a history of Polynesian Pop in the United States. Learn about the evolution of Tiki culture from its emergence in the 1930s as bartenders raced to invent the most imaginative cocktail to the development of “High Tiki” in the 1960s as seen at San Francisco’s famed Tonga Room.

Join us for tropical drinks starting at 6:30 pm. Christopher VerPlanck will give his presentation around 6:45/7 pm.

Event Details and Location:

Tuesday, August 25th, 6:30-8 pm

Trad’r Sams

6150 Geary Blvd. (at 26th Boulevard in the Richmond)

The #1, 2, 29, 31, and 38 MUNI buses all run within a couple of blocks of the bar. >>

I will be there too - Trad'r Judy said it "sounds boring" (what the... ??) so she's not coming... maybe one day she will be as Tiki as I am.
I can only hope.
