Nice photos! They really show off those skylights well.

And naugatiki - Thanks for the great shot of the mosaic by Bumpei Akaji:

I suspected it, but now you can really see that he also drew inspiration from the collection at the Bishop Museum like Ed Brownlee did. Check out the lizard-like Akua from the museum below and how it matches the tiki on the left-hand side of the mosaic.

Shit Sabu!
That's like a Da Vinci Code of Tiki.
Nice work.

Aloha,

Does sculptor Bumpei Akaji (A university of Hawaii colleague of Edward M. Brownlee) deserve his own thread here on Tiki Central?

Here's one of his many pieces at the Blaisdale concert hall. I think I counted nine there, but the camera died after the first shot. This is metal on metal with many overlapping Hawaii petroglyphs.

Nabbed a few items from the Canlis.

A wine list with "The Tiki"

I like this table topper with recipes from the restaurant.

The Canlis Salad. I will be trying this at home.

Canlis French Dressing.

And the Canlis Shrimp.

If you are coming to Mojave Oasis this year, I WILL be serving this at my crawl stop (with smoked Tuna, etc.).

DC
