Also, heard a lot of resurgence of Tiki in Tahiti. Many good things are coming to the States via Tahiti soon.

Could you elaborate?

I would love to. Which area though? I'm assuming the acquisition of it? Let me know.

Excellent vacation! Everything would be worth knowing.
Which island, where did you stay and how was it?
Whether the Tahitians drink it or is it for tourists?
How prevelant is the tiki image - what other products is it on?
Did you see any "real" tikis?
Is the phrase "ti'i" still used to describe tikis?
What did you think of the Tiki Village on Moreea?
And most importantly,
Is it available here or on-line?
Thanks (I may have gotten somewhat carried away )

Well, as I was there a few months ago, I can say that yes, they are drinking it, and the glasses are available in some stores (I bought 6). Hinano have one store with all items such as Teeshirts, lighters, glasses, even panties...
And yes, there is real tikis and no, they don't say ti'i but tiki (as marquesans).
And I thought the tiki Village was just a bad show for tourist, you can get a real dance on the street or in a parking lot for nothing and you can have a better dinner in every small restaurants on the streets border.

For this summer's vacation Tahiti was just a stop-over. We went to Rarotonga and Aitutaki. Aitutaki is to die for, comparable to Bora Bora in Tahiti. However, we did go to Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora 2 years ago.
How prevelant is the tiki image - what other products is it on?
The Tiki image is pretty prevelant in Tahiti. One of my favorite logos is Tahiti's international airport (FAA'A) The logo is a marquesan tiki with a plane in front of it. I wish there were stickers.
Did you see any "real" tikis?
When you say real, I'm assuming authentic from hundreds of years ago. We went to some "temples" in moorea, but didn't see any authentic ones.
What did you think of the Tiki Village on Moreea?
I have to agree with the previous post that it's meant for tourists, but you have to go. It's like going to California and not going to Disneyland. We liked it, I actually bought the CD and listen to it on a regular basis.
And most importantly,
Is it available here or on-line?
Unfortunately not. I don't think Tabu Tiki has a website.
If you want details about the Rarotonga/Aitutaki vacation you can email me at moai@comcast.net
