lunavideogames wow there are so many new words to learn for this mug. Boognish for the face, Ween for the group and Mollusk for the sea creature. I'm glad you cleared up the Quebec as the name of the album rather than where they came from too. Glad you like it all.

zerostreet anytime, just let me know. I'm especially happy we got a red one. He has a great face.

=================================================================================================

I think I have finished the sculpting of the lunavideogames Ween mug. I still need to put his friends names and wedding date on the bottom. I won't do that until it has dried more. I don't want to dent any of the outside. It will not look it's best until it is dried and sanded. Drying has to be super slow so that none of these additions crack.

Next I needed to finish the mouth and eyes. I counted eleven bars and I cut strips of paper in the right size. I was hopeful that it would work out. I dipped the strips in water so they would stick better.

I lined them up trying to match the photo and it worked out just right. I was so happy.

Then I used this tool to carve out the clay between the strips.

I removed the strips and fine tuned the carving.

Water and a paint brush is the best sander at this stage. I cleaned it up.

He really suited this mug shape well especially since the top has been removed and cleaned up.

The eyes are done too.

Four images that show the whole mug.

Now I'll start on the Buffy mug. I'm more on my own with this one so I hope I get it right.

I hope you all have a great weekend. Wendy

The ween and mollusk mugs are probably the strangest things I've seen in a while but oh my your skills are AMAZING! I am completely in awe of your skills!

Can't wait to see more!

Wendy, looking great. I just picked up (a week ago) the same carving tool and it's changed my life. Now I just have to get a quarter as good as you are at carving.

Thanks for posting!

Yay! I can drink out of my mug from Wendy now. I earned my zipper!

WOW, Didn't know you had to go through this, my doc has been saying I needed a double bypass for the past 2 years but refused to do it. Finally went to a different hospital where the doc there did it with stents and no zipper. I feel great after and hope you feel just as good.

LoriLovesTiki thank you so much, its just years of practice playing with clay. I've learned which tool to pick up to do each step. Water is the best tool of all.

cy all your new carvings are 10's. I love it when your creek brings you wood or you find an old piece in your garage and turn them into tiki treasures.

ZeroTiki you are!

TikiAno this is by far the best shaped tool for use with clay. Never buy the wooden handled version. I bought 10 and within a week I had broken them all. The metal version goes on for years. They come in two sizes and the smaller one is best for detail and carving words. The larger size I use for removing more clay. Don't forget to use water and paint brushes too. Thank you and you are welcome.

Benzart hi Ben, I sent you a long PM, I know it was past due and your post reminded me.

================================

A storm is rolling in with dark rain clouds and thunder. I guess I'll stay in and play with clay. The rain is pouring down now.

More on lunavideogames mugs.

I've added a small fish and later I'll add his tail fin.

The wedding couples names and wedding date has been added. Yep these are after the fact mugs.

Now I've started the Buffy and the Vampire mug. I started at the top and I'm working down. Risky.

Building the body and working carefully to not make any air pockets.

More hair and the start of her right arm.

Close up.

He's going to be a tiki so I'm just starting with a log.

These will drastically change as I progress. Especially her feet. I'm not sure what to do with them yet.

Thank you for the visit, Wendy

hang10tiki once in a while I forget to take photos but I do my best.

WaikikianMoeKele this project allowed Dan's rear to show up again and when it does I think of you giggling.

Badd Tiki you are so welcome. I use a variety of brushes to smooth my lines.

========================================================

I've choosen my glazes for Something's Fishy Bob.

I start with the darker color on his scales because if it gets on the face I can scrub it off.

Then after the body is done I do the three layers of white on the face and then 3 layers of black.

All done both sides.

I have an ongoing side project. I am working on an index for this thread so anyone can find something to view. Mainly I think knowing where I'm making a mold is of the most use. I'm at page 85 but of course I'll have to type all my notes when I finish writing them down. I should have started this sooner.

The rain here has left and we've had a morning walk. Since starting our new life style three weeks ago Dan has lost 7 pounds and I've lost 5. I hope to never find them again. Cheers, Wendy
