hang10tiki when Tiki Hula told me his idea I thought of the phrase, Go big or Go home! He certainly went big and I learned that the impossible can be done.

Big Kahuna Tiki Hula thanks you as do I.

TikiHula all it takes is desire and some good carving tools. You are on your way.

Holler Waller he has plans for its proper display when it's done. This will be an active bowl so fun really describes it.

hang10tiki he is young and so are you. Just give me a cola with caffeine and I can keep up with you boys.

=======================================================================
Thank you to all who have voted us up to Cool and Current #4 (last I looked). I appreciate the effort that takes.

When working on the AL DEAD bowl I would also work a bit on another project. A moai wall plaque. Since I changed the sculpt to make it mold ready I have to do a lot of carving such as rounding the hat.

If the clay is too thin after the carving I just add more to the inside.

Here I have carved the hat, behind the ear and along the side. I will need to carve under the arm and the rest of the side.

I started with the side.

Next I carved the arms.

Finished and ready for the stone texture to be repaired and added to the newly carved areas.

While I worked on a shrunken head Tiki Hula pressed a piece of large grained sand paper into the soft clay.

This was such demanding work he had to take his jacket off. He did a good job.

A few more steps to go before this one is finished.

Thank you all for the visit and comments. You are appreciated, Wendy

What, what are you all out having a wonderful Saturday and forgot to visit here? Good for you, there is a life besides tiki I just haven't found it yet and neither has Dan!

Now that the front of the Moai wall plaque has dried some I added more little indentations where the big grain sand paper wouldn't reach.

Next I flipped it over and started adding attachments for the wire.

I checked to make sure that these additions wouldn't keep it from hanging flush on the wall.

I added my name and copy write.

Now back to work. Keep on playing and enjoying your weekend, Wendy

Hi Wendy!

Don't worry, I don't have much of a life so I'm here checking out your thread!

If you're taking names put me on the list for a Moai wall hanging. I'd like to get one of those for myself.

Have a good evening,
Lori

I think the Dan Mug is catching on. I hear they serve drinks in the Dan Mug at the Mai Kai!

LoriLovesTiki I hope you were just kidding. If you lived here you could at least visit us.
If you like this #1 Moai wall plaque it's yours. You get to choose the glaze when the time comes.

VampiressRN you all flatter me so much (thank you) that I'm addicted to posting. I'm just a learner myself but I do love to share what I have figured out.

lunavideogames Dan loves the mug but even more that you put him in such a cool place.

======================================================================

Well thanks to having Mahalo Tiki Peanut mug mold here I was able to make this variation for Dan.

He named it RAPA MOAI because the peanut mug is maori and the new face is a moai.

The classic version from the mold.

I am only changing the face and deepening the peanut texture on the body.

I carved the name in the flat back area.

Added the mouth and did the texture on the body.

All done. What do you think?

===============================================================
Dan is tired of his big bowl of soup so now he has found a new favorite burrito.

He thought I might not show him also eating my two avocado tostadas.

I'm sticking to my almost no fat (I had one slice of avocado) diet to reverse my heart disease. 18 pounds off so far!

==================================================================

The Zombie Torch mugs have been covered for a month.

Now it's time to let them dry the rest of the way.

=======================================================
Update on the sculpts done for the Wish List #4.

VampiressRN Zombie Torch drying.

Corona Contessa Zombie Torch drying.

Tiki Hula Zombie Torch without flame mug style drying.

18 other Zombie Torch mugs and one version without the flame drying.

Tiki Hula AL DEAD bowl drying.

LoriLovesTiki Moai wall Plaque #1 drying.

hang10tiki The Honu Hideaway peanut mug drying.

Mahalo Tiki peanut mug payment drying.

Dan's Rapa Maori drying.

Doo Wop's Album cover mug being sculpted presently.

======================================================

I hope your Sunday is peaceful and that you are with friends or family. We had lunch with Nelson, Mary and Melissa of Mahalo Tiki. This is always a treat. They are good friends. Cheers, Wendy

I know Marlene - Wendy is too modest 'cause she really is a master!

Wait, is that Dan's real face with that burrito? Not photoshopped? haha I've never seen him with such an animated expression

Ahhhh, I can't wait to visit the Al Dead bowl again - and Dan & Wendy of course

Wendy, the moai wall plaque looks great and I'm glad it's going to a good home. And the moai peanut is inspired - love it. Great addition to the Jungle Room.

TikiHula Ahhh, what can I say but thank you. Dan looks and acts like that most of the time with me, he hides it from the rest of you. Your bowl misses you too.

==============================================

Time for an update on Doo Wops mug.

This is where I left off with the eye on the forehead too low. The side gills were not right so that added to the fix it list.

I added clay to the forehead and added an eye. I then filled in the gill area with more clay.

I traced Ginger into the clay. This is tricky because you need to not turn the line into air bubbles as you add clay.

Now I start to build up Ginger's body.

Body and then lots of hair.

This will greatly change as I try to make it look more like the album cover.

While Ginger's body firms up I work on the monsters teeth, cheek and trace the shape of the gills.

Gills are now shapped.

Ginger's body is taking shape. She will have a top on like the album cover.

More to fix one step at a time. Wendy

Yes, yes, YES! I want the Moai Plaque #1! YEAH!!!!!! You may glaze in the way you feel is best.

I am also in love with the Dan mug. Put me on that list as well.

Sadly, I wasn't kidding. I was watching tv and checking your thread at the same time. I think we watched a movie or two that night. We alternate between old movies (Film Noir is our favorite) and current movies we watch with the kids. This weekend I watched a few rather bad ones that fell in between "She's All That" and "Burlesque." LOL I would love to visit you & Dan. Someday!!!

Dan and I love that photoshop is being used to enhance our lives.

hang10tiki Dan has been working on the last batch of 78's. He has them on CD. Next he'll be adding the sound effects. He loved his photoshop best but I liked my moai best. Thank you.

LoriLovesTiki we went out to dinner at 4 PM and then came home to watch TV until bed time at 8 PM. I did wake up to hear all the booms in our neighborhood but Dan slept right through.

#1 is yours. When it is time to glaze we'll talk again. All guests stay in the Buzzy bedroom surrounded by his pinups and zerostreets art!

TikiAno I think it should have the classic glaze. I hope I can pull it off because I need to do it for hang10tiki's peanut mug too. Maybe I will mold it!

DooWop he'll only get better as the detail is added. I'm so happy you are pleased. More Ginger photos below.

zerostreet awesome burrito, good job, now Dan's wanting to find one that size. He has a problem with portion size. He said your burrito is just right.

====================================================

Dan asked me to repair these two chips. One is on the Moai ear and the other on the foot of the Maori boat.

It's hard to tell but here I've used Elmer's wood filler to fix the chips. Over fill because it shrinks as it dries.

After they dried over night I sanded them.

I mixed some enamel paints called Glossie's by Liquitex and covered the filler. They are back in Dan's collection.

=======================================================

Update on Doo Wop's Creature mug.

I took a dozen photos on this day but all the changes were to tiny that showing the last photo of the day was best.

I'm only working on this one mug right now. There is a lot of detail. Closed down for the night.

There are many adjustments that occur during a sculpture. Here I've added one strap.

I put a new chin back on and now the head is turned towards the surf creature.

The face will change over and over again until it is right. I have to let the super soft clay dry after adding it and then add more later.

Both straps are on but as I look at the album I can see that the top of the suit needs to be lowered to make it a bit sexier.

The album.

===============================================================

Well friends this maybe the last post I'll be making for awhile. We are going on a trip. Dan and I are going to visit Benzart and the Mai Kai and then on to see my nephew and his wife. I'll have lots of photos to post when we return.
We are going to miss you. Every day is fun on Tiki Central with all my friends here.

Please feel free to photoshop, visit or leave us messages on this thread. We'll look forward to reading them when we return home.

If you have any of my art displayed in your home I'd love to see a photo posted while we're gone. Even if you have posted it before just do a different angle.

Thank you so much for all the joy you bring me. When we return I'll make up for lost time and get busy with the Wish List #4.

Cheers, Wendy
