The art of Doug Horne
I thought it would be fun to go way back and dig through my piles of art that I've created over the years, from long before tiki invaded my life to present day. I'm shocked it has been a decade of doing tiki art, where has the time gone? I fondly remember back in 1997 when I walked into the Kahiki in Columbus, OH. It was an awe inspiring moment that sent me down a creative path that I'm still traveling today. It was like the first time Gilligan saw Ginger naked ... the unknown episode #82 and my favorite. Thanks to all of you that have supported my art over the years, I'm so thankful for the friends I've made and being able to meet many of you face to face. I'm always blown away by the talented artists and art I see here on TC. I'm Looking forward to seeing what the next decade brings.
Hold on, it gets better...
In 2002 I started selling my tiki art as Mr. Crafty.
I know, I know, I can do better than that...
I decided Mr. Crafty was not working for me so went with this.
First mugs done with Tiki Farm.
Tiki Magazine cover #1.
Thanks for looking!
Check back for more updates, cheers!

Doug,
Thanks for the visual time-line of your work! That self portrait (from I think 1990) brings back so many memories of my art class assignments only mine didn't look as good as yours!
Nice work

Hints of a Tiki future? Is that a Cobra's Fang mug in the lower left corner?

Those early pieces are great, Doug. Really documents your artistic journey. Makes me want to delve into my archives & see what "treasures" could be found.

Thanks Ben!
Tikisan, not sure if I will be doing prints of that one.
Blondie, scanned that from a print I had, the original inking is dust in the wind as far as I know.
Thanks Ken, X-Ray Spex is not my first digital piece but an early tiki image painted with Photoshop.
Below is an early digital piece from back in my illustration days, about 1998.
