Hey there,
I don't post very often, but I've been lurking quite a while...
I thought some of you may like this trailer for my feature film The Yakuza and the Mermaid. Brian Lease (of Fisherman) composed the music for the movie, and did a killer job.

I hope you dig it,
Thanks!

I have always been a Samurai and Yakuza movie fan. Sidney Pollack's 1974 "Yakuza" is one of my all-time favorite American movies...

The opening scene alone is worth my money:

...and Takakura Ken is one of the coolest dudes that ever walked the earth:

As a cinematographer, I have always wondered when the digital camera revolution (small, affordable hi-rez cameras) will lead to a film genre of its own, so I applaud such efforts as this film. And I have no idea how the Tikis fit into the concept, but I am curious.

I've always loved Takashi Miike's "Rekka: Deadly Outlaw"

Based on that trailer, I'd pay to see that in the theater. The bob cut hottie in the skin tight cheongsam (in Japan ??) was the closer.
Plus there was a Tiki !!

Well it's good to hear that someone else has even heard of that 1975 neo-noir sleeper. It flys low and under the radar even for Film Noir geeks...

Hey Guys,
I thought I'd revive this old thread to let you know that my film, The Yakuza and the Mermaid will have a 2 week run at Cinema Village in NYC. It starts this Friday, Sept 28.
The soundtrack was done by the tiki band Fisherman, and is amazing!
Here's the trailer again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VYL8uZvUzs
If anybody wants to go, PM me and I'll get you comps.
Thanks!
