TMec, not only do we need you but,
and I think I can speak for the 14,905 users here,
we want you too.

Cy, I just used all my simple tools.
Large chisels smaller chisels & then it's X-actos #10 & 11
& my parting V chisel
Nothing special.

Next up is a Lono.
I found a new stash of logs and
we're going to find out how Norfolk Pine carves.
If it's good we have some monsters coming up.
I started with a small one.

The same day I got a call from a tree guy.
He has some Rosewood logs & they're big.

The old saying: When it rains it pours! I can not express how jealous I am of that "little" Norfolk pine log. He is correct in saying that the one he is working on is a "little" log. I saw the stash, and have been drooling over it ever since.

I had cut off a chunk of this pine to test
be for I lugged it home.
I spent a few hour session with it & liked it
so much I went right over to get a log.
I gave the test chunk to Tom.
He had a few hour session on the other side with it.
He liked it.
Can ya tell who did which side ?

That is just a tiny wedge out of a small slice that was lying around next to the logs. I had heard that Norfolk Pine was good to carve, but had no idea just how nice it was in the small form. I cheated and used my Wecheer on it and then cleaned up with the hook knife. It carves almost as nice as Basswood. Will was nice enough to give me the rest of the slice - I may turn some on the lathe.

cy - this was practice, its done. You can have it - but we only deliver locally. Hukilau is coming!

Nice Will. The palm frond holds a surprising amount of detail
