Wondering who carved this guy I gave a ride home to a few weeks ago in the greater LA area. The gentleman that sold it to me said he had bought it from "some guy that kept it on this porch and was moving". This would explain the more weathered look and splitting toward the base. I've looked for markings but can't find any.

It looks like a tourist piece, carved by Tongans either in Tonga or possibly Hawaii.
