That's awesome - for the longest time that shot was the only glimpse we had of the Hawaiian Room and now to own it is just amazing! Congrats!

interesting... yesterday i bought a skull mug through craigslist for the hawaiian room.
the previous owner had bought it at the hawaiian room in 1959 or 1961 when visiting with his brother. they were both "in the service."
compare this one (the smaller, whiter one with the OTAGIRI markings) with the other one, which is more beige and larger, although possibly from the same scuplt.
the text on the whiter, smaller skull is the "chop suey" font that matches the font on the angry bearded mug. i looked on ooga-mooga, and all the cataloged examples of this skull have the larger blocky letters like the one on the larger, beige skull.

This is an awesome piece of historical research! I just obtained one of the moa swizzle sticks from the Hawaiian Room - along with a bunch of Tiki mugs from the same family. Three of them are unmarked but look very much like the tiki with his hands on his tummy in the images posted above. I wonder if they might be "lost" (unmarked) Hawaiian room mugs? Ill post an image if I cant find the same mug on Oooga Mooga.
