sweet!
what we really need is a calendar listing the national rum days of each nation, so we can schedule appropriate observances...

I'd like to propose that with a little effort, *every day* can be National Rum Day.

Just one day?
How would you like to do it again with SEVEN days?
http://www.rumcruise.com/
This november! Seven days, Five Distilleries, and a built in designated driver!
November not in the cards?
Then head down to Miami in April for Rum Renaissance April 15 through the 22. http://rumrenaissance.com/

Looks like Hukilau and Rum Renaissance are going to be held concurrently. Don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing...

All right...here it is...again...and it's called...
National Rum Day 2012!
August 16th 2012.
Esquire has a write-up, including a pretty decent "Rum Guide". Includes references to Smuggler's Cove and PKNY as well as some respectable drink recipes:

I don't need no "special" rum day . . . for me, EVERY day is "Rum Day"!

National Rum Day (today) just happens to correspond with the first day of Tiki Oasis. Drink up!
