Hey everyone - I'm from Vancouver Canada, have attended Tiki Oasis a few times as a vendor (www.shamefultiki.com) and met some of you in passing here and there. I have recently sold my business with the plan to open a tiki bar here in Vancouver where it rains all the time and we need some tropical escape.
I took a solo drive from Vancouver to San Diego with stops at every tiki destination I could - the new Trader Vics in Portland, Tiki Ti (several times), Trader Sam's, Dons in Huntington, a massive shopping spree at Oceanic for my new home bar (photo thread on that soon) and all the others.
Here's a little photo thread from some of my stops. I tried to get a little arty to mix it up a bit, hope you enjoy.

just a note to get us off on the right foot

The first cocktail of the road trip, a classic 3 dots and a dash from Thatch

Fine service

First shot at Trader Vics Portland, a great place

an interior shot at Trader Vics Portland

Exterior detail TV Portland

Making the tour through San Fran with a stop in Alameda

A delicious Navy Grog, spicy and on special during happy hour!

Next stop Smugglers Cove, even the menu is great...

Enjoying a fine Jet Pilot, one of my other favorites

Down to Sunset, getting my first Rays mistake

Chatting with Jim, waiting for the next one....

I think the years of history have given this place some kind of magic, it's always fun

a true gentleman

a little farther north

if I'm not mistaken, the oldest operating vintage tiki bar

and the new.....

nice work Ben

watch out, sometimes it feels like you're sinking after a couple of these

off to Whittier, my home bar looks better because of it not so much my mastercard.

Both owners were available at Oceanic this day, truly nice men with a lot of history in this culture

This place offers so much to a camera

and I might add, the Penang Afrididi and QB Cooler are both delicous

cousin to mr. potato head, but don't tell him

last stop....
