LA DWP came by and told me some palm trees had to go. As I look at the stump I'm thinking it might make a nice tiki (although it might be hard to work so near the wall)
I see I'm not the first to think this:

Maybe I should by a wooden one and somehow attach it to the stump top.
Anyone do something interesting with an in-ground stump?

I've done a bunch of 'em.
in fact, I just finished a ten footer today...
does the inside feel solid or stringy?

I didn't even think to touch it. They just cut it a few hours ago. Checking now --
-- It's actually not very wood-like. It seems like it's probably stringy. It has a fair amount of give when I press my thumbnail into it.

Maybe I could stick a 3 foot totem of similar diameter on top.
