here are some photos of how i carve the "Scales-Tiki" step by step.
first i transfer the picture to the piece of wood i have chosen
then i make a stencil for the outlines
i cut to the outline and remove the wood
for smaller holes i use borer and chisels
next step is to thin out arms and legs
now work on the face
adding the decoration
for the right color i add wood stain until i am satisfied
to finish the tiki i add the eyes and the tiki becomes alive!
wish you happy carving!

Very nice Rio. That's some decent sized chunks of shell for the eyes.

Earlier today, I read this Hawaiian proverb and it's already coming in handy
.
‘Ike aku, ‘ike mai, kôkua mai; pela iho la ka nohona ‘ohana
Recognize others, be recognized, help others, be helped; such is a family relationship.
We are all here to learn from each other. Hope to see more of your work.
