(Arrgh,
Just realized I posted this in the wrong forum. Please move to home bars, Mr. moderator. Mahalo.)

Aloha,
Some of you know Wahine Marian and I relocated after 20+ years in Florida to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware so we could be closer to family and eventually retire in a laid-back little beach town. It's been a multi-year process that involved a complete remodel of the old farmhouse her grandparents lived in, changing jobs and all sorts of other stuff that goes with moving to a new state. Anyway, we set aside a room for a new version of our old Honolulu Lounge, but my hands were so full with other more pressing home improvements, I've only recently started work on it. Of, course that didn't keep us from setting up the bar and putting up some shelves, etc. so we could grab a Mai Tai when we needed one. Here are some pictures to show our progress to this point. There is a lot of detail yet to be done, but we are on our way.

This is the original space. A screened in porch.

Here is the room gutted, before being enclosed.

Looking better

We have a room. All of this work was done in 2010, while I was still living in Florida.

The inside of the house was finished during the first three months of 2011.

New floor, ceiling and a few lights.

Moving in.

Positioning where things will go.

The final layout, more or less. For the next few months, I had to turn my attention to a million other projects with the house.

By July, things were looking a bit better.

I was able to get my mugs out of the totes where they had been stored for a year.

Turned the fountain on. This was made by the late, great Wayne Coombs (after the one at the Tahitian Resort in Tarpon Springs).

Most of you probably recognize this tiki. There is one on each end of the room.

Fast forward to the last month or so. Found this tapa cloth at an antique mall for $7. Kind of rough, but its going to be mostly covered up.

Looking better.

Now we're feeling the tiki vibe.

Let's start working down at this end of the room.

Much better.

Nothing says "aloha" like some lauhala mats.

It's important to position your parrot far enough away from your Witco

My favorite tiki treasure.
I've got more to do, and will try to update this as I move along.

I like how you combined Lauhala matting with knotty pine. It keeps it New England.

Thanks Vern. How's the tiki itribe holding up in the DC / Baltimore-area? Really have no idea how strong Poly Pop is up here.
