I often have to review patents, and while searching today, I came across a US patent for something you may all be familiar with.

PATENT D267232
http://www.google.com/patents/USD267232

The Ti Toki Liqueur Decanter!

And here's a link to the patent filed by the asshole that ripped of John Skewes' Tiki Soap to turn it into a lighter. Imagine that, you can get a patent for stolen ideas. (I'm looking at you too, Edison.)

Here's a weird one for making "tiki" furniture from concrete:
http://www.google.com/patents/US20070234935

And an ugly tiki chess set. Doesn't even compare to our own Crazy Al's, although the pineapple rook is a good idea.
http://www.google.com/patents/USD442642

AND HERE'S THE SUFFERING BASTARD DECANTER!
http://www.google.com/patents/USD188353

Under other references, it lists Thor Heyerdahl's Aku Aku.

Here's one for a tiki glass:
http://www.google.com/patents/USD664396

From the company's website:

Here's one for a tiki water bottle, though it would seem the company changed the design by the time it went to production:
http://www.google.com/patents/USD517419

And, last, but cerrrrrrtainly not least, the patent for the Mai Kai Liquor decanter, granted to one Mr. Albert J. Kocab, who did so many of the early designs for the Mai Kai:

Interesting. Here is a little more info on the Skewes stolen design.

I love this kind of crap!

This is slightly off topic, but in the same vein....and a great example of justice!

The set-up: There is a well known bass guitar builder named Jens Ritter, who crafts some of the most expensive bass guitars in the world. His designs are very unique and totally copywritten.

Anyway, several people clued him in to a chinese company making exact duplicate ripp-offs....so he decided to pose as a reporter and "interview" the company. What follows is hilarious!

DAMMIT! I searched too before starting it. I searched patent, singular though. Ah well. Shucks. I didn't know the search was that specific.

And Lucas, that video was very funny. Thanks man.
