Rautalanka is the Finnish version of Surf Music, popular back in the early '60s, that usually used minor key Finnish folk tunes or German Schlager for their melodies. The bands were most popular from about '61 until '63 (when everyone suddenly wanted to be the next Beatles), but there still are a number of bands continuing today, like Viikate & Agents. Laika & the Cosmonauts were considered a Rautalanka band in Finland.
