Not sure if this is the right forum...I came across these photos here on TC from Trader Sams.

Having recently strung a similar string of lights in my backyard lounge area, I would like to try to make or purchase similar shades for my lights. I'm hoping one of my fellow TC'ers can point me in the right direction (either where to purchase or better yet, point me in a direction to recreate something similar). I need 18 of them.

Those are cool!
The first thing you need, and this is the hard part, is
the tube to glue your fabric on.
These could be made of plastic or fiberglass, wish I could
find some of those fiberglass ones.
And no I don't know where to find these.
But then just go to a fabric store and buy outdoor fabric.
Or even burlap and coat with a sealer.
Glue this to the tube.
Then make a pattern and spray the tapa print on fabric, seal, and add a light.
Fabric kinda like this.
Good luck!

Yeah a tube would be easier to do I think.

I found this link
http://www.channel4.com/4homes/how-to/craft/how-to-make-a-lampshade

and this site that sells the rings:
http://www.lampshop.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=ls&Category_Code=06_04_WIRE_CHIM

I wonder if I could make it with any fabric and then coat with some sort of clear coat to protect from uv/weather?

This fabric might tie in nicely with the red chairs I have in the lounge:

Used the wire rings to make this shade here.
Do not think that would work well outdoors.
You have only a small bit of fabric at the end to wrap around the wire
and this may not hold up to the weather.

Yeah, Tipsy Yeti those would work.
BUT... they only come 6 inches long, And they are $26.00 or so dollars to your door.
So after you put in a light and fabric ect...
you are close to $35.00 each, kinda high for that light.

Yeah at $35 a shade, it won't work for my project (need 18 of them).

Here is some acrylic tube:

Yeah, a little pricy. I wonder if acrylic tubes would work. We have Tap Plastics out here in SF. All sorts of plastic shapes, I bet fiberglass tubes could be made fairly inexpensively.
And sorry, just read Jims response...lol

if someone finds themselves next to the lights at Trader Sams, I would like to get a couple other angles of the shade to see how they have attached it and further figure out how they made them. A few macro shots showing inside the underside of the shade would help.

BTW- @Tikiskip that lamp and shade are very cool!

Here is the start of my version of that light shade.
As you can see the shellac washes out the brown, may repaint with red.
The thing is you don't see the tapa print much when it's lit.
You need to remember that Disney has MANY people that do
nothing all day and night but make that place look good.
So what works for them you may not have the time or money to do.
Will put this one outside to see how it holds up over the years.

Can you share how you made it? Did you wrap the burlap (?) around something?
