I haven't posted here recently, but hopefully everyone knows that Ports of Paradise is broadcast weekly and the latest programs are always available at www.pbsfm.org.au/portsofparadise

This week, we enjoyed some jungle exotica and a little tropical hypnosis, before retiring to the cocktail lounge for some swingin' jazz piano and a chat with the artist Shag.

Here's a link to the audio archive and playlist: http://pbsfm.org.au/node/64450

Highlights from this week's broadcast included an exotic jazz epic from Buddy Collette, a recent re-issue from the Hawaiian Spotlighters and an impossibly cool classic from Herbie Mann

You can hear it all again at
http://pbsfm.org.au/node/65252

Next week, I'll be chatting with Otto von Stroheim about Tiki Oasis!

Following last week's interview with Otto von Stroheim (from Tiki Oasis) - this week's broadcast was all about the music ... including some crazy beat jazz from Tino Contreras , a little Hawaiian hula and a birthday bash for Bing !

The last two episodes have been dedicated to our most important fundraiser of the year.

If you'd like to help keep our independent community radio station running for another 12 months, then please head to pbsfm.org.au

Not sure what we'll do if you're based in the US and you win one of the major prizes!

Next week - back to regular programming (phew!)

Kicked off this week's program with some new exotica releases from Dionysus Records, followed by a fantasy island cruise.

Then we stopped into a swingin' cocktail lounge for a chat with Professor Cunningham and his Old School and rounded off the session with some classic calypso

An ancient tribal ceremony, a little bit of cha cha, some big band voices, spy jazz and calypso ... it's all in this week's episode, which you can stream from http://pbsfm.org.au/node/68930

Thanks, Paddy. I've been enjoying listening to the archives. If anyone in the contiguous US wants to listen live, we can hear it on Thursday evenings.

4-6 PM Pacific DST
5-7 PM Mountain DST
6-8 PM Central DST
7-9 PM Eastern DST

PBS 106.7 FM can be found on TuneIn, which is how I plan on listening tonight. (At some point, I'm also interested to hear about the Tiki Tour....)

Thanks for helping out with the time differences, Hamo. These can be confusing at the best of times!

Please note they might change from 1 Oct, when we head into "Daylight Saving" or Summer time.

Thanks for keeping in contact - it's great to know you're still listening

FWIW I'm listening too

I'm on the West Coast U.S. and when it's appropriate I direct someone I know ~ or meet that I think will dig the vibe ~ to check out your stream.

Cheers!

Jungle exotica, Mexican lounge, spy jazz, naked bongos and Hawaiian guitar ... just some of the audio flavours we sampled on Friday morning.
