The 3rd Annual
NEW YORK ALOHA MEMORIAL CEREMONY
A Waterfront Lei Tribute to the World Trade Center Victims

Sunday September 7, 2003, 4:00 p.m. at Pier 63, NYC.

To honor the victims of the World Trade Center tragedy the Pohala Foundation and New York Outrigger will co-sponsor the 3rd annual New York Aloha Memorial Ceremony. In accordance with the traditional Hawaiian custom of mourning and remembrance a flotilla of outrigger canoe paddlers, kayakers and surfers will journey into the waters of the Hudson River Park to ceremoniously release hundreds of fresh flower leis. The Pohala Foundation will coordinate flower donations and volunteers to string leis comprised of individual flower blossoms representing each victim. New York Outrigger will coordinate all flotilla volunteers. Ceremony participants include: Halau Hula ëO Na Mele ëAina ëO Hawaiíi of New York; The Aloha Boys; the University of Hawai'i Alumni Association East, and the Northeast outrigger canoe, kayak and surfing community.
