I’m sure that I have posted a thread regarding Stox bakery/restaurant in Downey but after a long and frustrating search I am giving up. I had my camera with me during this morning’s visit and was able to get a decent pic of some carved wooden “tiles” that are behind the bar there at Stox’s. The barkeep said they are from the sixtie’s. I like the designs and I think they would fit right into most tiki environments. Most of the carvings/tiles are approx. 10x10”-some are 20x20” There doesn’t appear to be anything tiki about this place although they serve “breakfast fried rice” which looks like Loco Moco. There is also an Aloha pie on the menu.
Cheers

Great stuff, Trav! Nice to see I'm not the only one scouring the countryside to spend money I don't have on stuff I don't need!

LOL. Thanks Rick. I find some pretty good junk while I'm out and about once in awhile. Some stuff I use in my house and some I sell to help pay the bills. A nice summer day of hunting for that stuff is a good day indeed. Keep on scouring my friend!

I found this awesome desk suite box by Josef Hoffmann at a local thrift store for ten bucks. Look for my sister getting an appraisal for me on the upcoming season of Antiques Roadshow from Chicago !!!!!!!!

I use to go to the bar at Ports o Call during the 70’s. Picked up a pair of Hurricane type glasses for my home bar at a yard sale yesterday. I had heard that Port’s o Cal had closed bout ten years ago.Their website shows em up and running.
Cheers

Got this from a friend cleaning out his house. Been in a cabinet since the early 70s. Still sealed with jungle juice inside.

I'll be easy to spot, when I get off the plane at LAX, in November. I'll be the cool guy wearing this!

Great finds everyone. I picked up this C. Jere scuplture signed and dated 1970. It is called Labyrinth. Found at a local thrift store for $10

Truly. I once found the Raindrops sculpture at an outdoor market for $10. Sold it the next day for $365 I think. I like yours better.

Thanks guys. Nothing like a good MCM find to fill the void when Tiki is scarce.

I'm sorry, Trav. I think you a zero off that price! 10 bucks? Really? Great score!
