I deleted the information from my events post and relocated it here since this I was reminded that this is technically not a "Tiki" item.
40 sheets of cardboard $70
8 gallons of paint $90
1 fog machine $30
80 glue sticks $30
60 1"x2"x8's $60
100 + hours of labor $Free
2 weeks without sleep $costly
The amazed expression of the neighborhood children as they caught a glimpse of the boat and set foot inside...... $priceless.
The boat is built in 3 sections so that it can be easily moved.
The canons had a fog machine attached to a ductwork of abs pipe. When the fog machine was engaged, the canons would smoke for full effect.
The following panels are all 4 foot by 8 foot and are painted entirely in flourescent paint and were displayed under black light. Surrounding the characters were dozens of stars painted to look like pixie dust. They are not readily apparent under camera flash but they created a much more fantastic environment.

Holy crap!
You outdid Sponge Bob, a feat I did not consider to be readily attainable. You are setting some dangerous precedent, the kids are going to expect bigger and better each ensuing Halloween. Excellent work, I enjoyed just looking at the pics, cannot imagine the full affect.
Great fun,
midnite

Wow, that's really cool. Thanks for posting the pictures. You did a great job. I am sure the kids loved it!
You certainly put a lot of work into the ship and it shows......

Monkeyman, I can see those glow-in-the-dark Peter Pan scenes in my minds eye. Was there a crocodile going "tick-tick-tick"? That part really used to scare me. What a great thing to do for your neighbor kids - magical!

That does it. You have inspired me to finally put a surfing Santa on my steep-assed roof for Christmas.

Aw, MAN!! I have been waiting to see these pix (as a poor substitute to seeing the real thing), and they were worth the wait!! How utterly magical!! The back window section may be my fave part -- except for the handsome and tiny Mr. Pan and the beautiful TinkerPenny - I mean, Tinkerbell! You made my Halloween, Monkeyman!

Monk,
I'm glad you decided to post the pics. Another excellent piece of work, and it looks like you have an excellent crew to man that Bloomin Jolly Roger.

A huge thanks to Al and Shelley who came to my rescue at the last minute with a complete pirate costume for me to wear. You two are the best.

I stopped by Monkeymans' pad on Halloween and I can honestly say that the pictures do not do his creation justice. It was absolutely amazing, so much more vibrant than the picture show. He and his family put in hours of work and it really paid off on Halloween. Nice job Monkeyman.
