Has anyone from Portland tried Rogue Rum? it's distilled in the Rogue Public House, 1339 NW Flanders St. Portland, Or. 972090 (503.222.5901). The "Wash" is made from hot water & certified Hawaiian Cane Sugar & is fermented with Champagne yeast to yield "a drier, but sweet, light finish." It's a "white" rum, but the Head Distiller hopes to build up enough stock to age some in the future to produce aged Dark Rum. (Info from Fred Eckhardt's column in All About Beer Magazine.)

Yessir, they are! They have their Whiskey mash fermented in the main brewery & shipped across town by the tanker truck load, but I think they ferment the wash for the Rum right there in the Distill Pub.
