I was notified of this farewell to the bowling alley by the Modern Committee (a sub-committee of the LA Conservancy). It looks like they are starting a bowling club (anyone can join) for mid-century modern bowling alleys and this will be their first meeting.

It just won't be the same driving up PCH...
However, on a happier note, it seems that the sign was saved and is planned to be put up near the Pike in downtown LB.
