[Introduction] [How to use] [Nominating Topics for Cool & Current] [FAQ]

Introducing U-MODERATE

U-Moderate is a new system that allows everyone -- including you -- to help moderate Tiki Central by voting on moderation decisions. By letting everyone in on the moderation process, U-Moderate will improve Tiki Central by ensuring that topic moderation reflects the opinions of the Tiki Central community-at-large.

How to use

When you come across a topic that you feel needs moderation such as locking or moving into a different forum, simply go to the U-Moderate panel at the bottom-left of the page.

Choose your desired moderation request and press the "send" button. This sends a Moderation Request directly to Tiki Central. That's all there is to it!

Because the whole Tiki Central community has access to this tool and are encouraged to vote, the appropriate steps can then be applied in a timely fashion to the topics with the most moderation requests.

It is important that you do your part to use U-Moderate if you want your opinions about the direction of Tiki Central to count!

FAQ

What happens when I use U-Moderate?

You cast a vote for a moderation action to be taken. Your moderation request is filed for that topic, flagging that topic for review by Hanford Lemoore. Moderation requests are tallied on a topic-by-topic basis, with a running total.

Why are the options to Lock and to Delete combined?

Because Lock and Delete are both used to accomplish the same thing, and the moderators decide which is best. It is Hanford Lemoore's policy on Tiki Central to lock topics rather than delete them whenever possible.

Is my moderation vote private?

U-Moderate votes are monitored by select moderators only. It is Hanford Lemoore's policy to not share individual moderation requests with anyone else.

What if I feel a topic needs moderation of a type that is not listed in the U-Moderate menu?

Choose "Other" and send, then type out a message to Hanford Lemoore in the comments box provided on the page.

How many moderation requests need to be submitted before they are acted upon?

There is no automatic trigger. Every topic is evaluated on a case-by-case basis before actual moderation occurs. The more Moderation requests are filed for a topic, the easier and more efficiently we can take action. This is why it is important that you don't hesitate to use U-Moderate when you feel a topic needs moderation of some sort.

Can I submit a moderation request only on an individual message within a topic?

Currently there is no way to do this.

I have a question that is not listed here.

Feel free to Contact Hanford Lemoore.
